LambeTurahNews - The 5th World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) 2026 officially wrapped up its main events in Jakarta on Friday, October 23, 2026. The closing of this global forum was marked by the approval of the Jakarta Vision on Creative Economy and the designation of Glasgow as the host city for WCCE 2028.

Minister of Creative Economy/Kepala Badan Ekonomi Kreatif (Ekraf), Teuku Riefky Harsya, led the closing session of this international conference, which had been running for three consecutive days. During this important event, the Indonesian government officially announced Glasgow in the UK as the host city for the next WCCE in 2028.

The Long Process of Formulating Jakarta Vision

The main achievement of this prestigious international forum was the official approval of the Jakarta Vision on Creative Economy as a new global guideline document. This strategic agreement was specifically formulated to strengthen the foundation, direction of policy, and international collaboration in facing digital era challenges and expanding inclusive creative economy growth across the world.

The lengthy process of drafting the Jakarta Vision document was done comprehensively through open public consultations held from April to May 2026. This stage was followed by three intensive discussion sessions in the FCE Square throughout August to September. The strict discussions involving representatives from various sectors across 42 countries were finally finalized in the FCE Meeting before being officially approved at the Ministerial Meeting.

The approval of this historic document is expected to bring all the aspirations and interests of the global creative industry to a higher level of international policy and freedom. Minister of Ekraf emphasized the importance of the results of this agreement to underpin and support the direction of global development in the future.

"Today is a historic milestone with the approval of the Jakarta Vision on Creative Economy. This is our shared inheritance. I hope the ideas and commitments that have been agreed upon can become part of the future resolutions in the United Nations General Assembly, so that the creative economy has a stronger voice in global development," said Minister of Ekraf during the closing session of WCCE 2026 in Jakarta, Friday (23/10).

Four Main Pillars and National Vision

Substantively and deeply, the Jakarta Vision document contains four main priority pillars of international cooperation. These pillars include the commitment to expand inclusive access to digital technology and infrastructure, protection of intellectual property rights, implementation of fair remuneration schemes for creators, and opening up wider access to funding and investment to support the sustainability of global creative economy actors.

This strategic step and creative economy diplomacy align with the national policy direction under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, which places the creative sector as a new engine for national economic growth. Minister of Ekraf asked each delegate and country representative present to immediately implement the conference agreement results upon their return to their respective countries.

"When we return to our respective countries, let's continue to uphold the commitments we've built in Jakarta. We must work together to ensure that the creative economy provides real and sustainable benefits for the world's population. Through collective efforts, we can turn this shared vision into reality," emphasized Minister of Ekraf.

The WCCE 2026 event, which was themed Inclusively Creative: Collective Continuity, successfully recorded the highest level of ministerial participation in the history of the conference.
